Ep 29: Choosing Authenticity on Social Media with Joyce Prin‪g‬

Joyce Pring jumped into the diner all the way from Manila in the Philippines! She is a TV host and social media influencer who hosts the number one podcast in the Philippines, Adulting with Joyce Pring. We jumped in and talked about how much she loves eating cheesecake and coffee in the morning when she visits New York City. She also told me about her favorite late-night food move in Manila: Beef Pares. Joyce then told me about her childhood and being raised in a poor family while dreaming of being a doctor. Her friends pushed her to do more though and that’s how she found media. It was awesome to hear Joyce talk about the power of social media vs. television. Her online presence is delightfully refreshing and we talked about making the choice for how you show up online and how to live your life with authenticity. Knowing we were coming from two different cultures, I wanted to learn about sexism and being a woman in the media in the Philippines. It was eye-opening to see the contrasting and also similar ways women are treated differently in the Philippines vs. the USA. We then swapped scar stories and I let the listeners know that Joyce is pregnant (she is very open about this on social media)! We ended our talk with a simple yet deep question: What is one thing you want to teach your child?
